mono printing

mono printing produces one off prints with exciting results. adding colour with collage elements this is a fantastic workshop to do as an introduction to printing. mono printing is a great way to produce lots of work easily and there are lots of 'tricks of the trade' to learn. 


drypoint etching

you will produce your own plate to print with collage elements, rich incised lines and added colour. printed on the etching press to produce beautiful prints. lots of help is provided through this more complex process which is suitable for both beginners and artists alike. 


gelli printing

an exciting, relatively new process from the USA, gelatine printing is a mono printing process producing fabulous colourful prints using stencils, textures and ordinary acrylic paint. use your own designs or be inspired by the many examples and ideas you will be shown.

sketchbook building and stitching

following on from any of the no5workshops courses using your own artwork to include in an artist’s book made and bound by you. many inspiring examples of handmade artists’ books will fuel your creativity.

you will use a variety of tools to carve into a plate of linoleum, learn to ink up and print, developing your own designs or be inspired by many examples shown. adding colour and collage elements to complete the process and produce several great prints to take home

paper making

paper making

a fun and exciting process; explore making your own mixed media paper samples to use in your projects, or as beautiful pieces of art in their own right. you will be guided through this process to utilise and recycle waste papers, layering small objects colours and fibres into the paper.

if you choose an option that includes food as part of the day you will not be disappointed. armi enjoys cooking and preparing food as a creative endeavour! her food is beautiful as well as tasty and special dietry requirements can be catered for. she once rose to the challenge of gluten free, vegetarian and egg free all in one meal! special event food can be discussed and arranged.

armi maddison is a knowledgable and experienced art educator with over 25 years in the post 16 sector, including A level, BTec, Access, Foundation and degree teaching. armi's approach is to facilitate an explorative and experimental learning environment. you will gain from her extensive knowledge in a variety of print processes and get excited by what can be achieved. armi creates a welcoming friendly and supportive environment, whilst encouraging participants to achieve their full potential. always brimming with ideas many examples to show, you will receive lots of one to one help ensuring success and a sense of achievement.

armi is a practising artist and has been producing her own work since she studied sculpture at kingston university a while back... she specialises in mixed media processes and has shown and sold in many exhibitions and open studios.
