the ‘low-tech’ nature of mono-printing makes it one of the most accessible methods of printmaking but also one of the most creative. combined with collage elements this is an exciting and experimental workshop designed to develop and inform your current art practice or as a starting point for complete beginners.  

in the workshop you will learn how to

  • prime a plate

  • trace monoprint

  • use cut and torn stencils

  • create texture, pattern and tone

  • add colour with chine collé

  • layer prints for more depth

  • add text

by the end of the workshop you will be informed and confident to continue making your own mono prints at home

gelatine printing produces fabulous colourful (or subtle) one off prints, a mono-printing process without the need of a press. it is an exciting, relatively new process which includes pattern, shape, texture and layering. bring your own design ideas or be inspired by the many examples and ideas you will be shown.

this workshop will show you how to:

  • use cut and torn stencils

  • layer for richly textured and patterned prints

  • use household emulsion & acrylic paint to print by hand

  • use indian wood blocks in your print

  • print directly from your own quick painting

  • print onto paper and fabric

by the end of the workshop you will feel confident to continue making your own mono-prints at home and take with you a recipe to make your own plate.

a fun and exciting process; explore making your own mixed media paper samples to use in your own projects, or as beautiful pieces of art in their own right. you will be guided through the process to utilise and recycle waste papers, layering small objects colours and fibres into the paper.

recycling waste paper, you will be shown how to:

  • make paper

  • incorporate found objects

  • use found text

  • layer different colour pulps

  • integrate embossed textures

by the end of the workshop you will take home the knowledge to continue making your own paper.

drypoint etching has exciting results obtained from easy to prepare plates with no chemicals. marks are made onto special drypoint card or drypoint rhenalon with a variety of tools which create a wide range of line, texture and tone within the resulting printed image. comprehensive examples, possibilities and demonstrations will guide you through the process from start to finish and you will gain confidence in this fascinating art form. you will be shown how to make your own printing plate and how to use the etching press, how to add colour and collage elements to your print. several finished prints and your plate will be yours to take home. 

this workshop will show you how to:

  • design and make a plate

  • ink up and wipe the plate ready to print

  • add colour to your print using collage elements

  • use the etching press safely

  • prepare your paper for print

  • print onto paper and fabric

lino prints are rich in repetitive and rhythmic marks to describe form and tone within a design, you will be able to produce print easily at home as no press is required. you will use a variety of tools to carve into a plate and learn how to add collage elements and colour, using tissue paper. learn to lino print using your own designs or be inspired by many still lives and ideas in armi's studio. great results van be achieved with limited expertise

this workshop will show you how to:

  • how to select suitable images and reference materials

  • transfer your design onto the lino

  • use cutting tools safely

  • cut a variety of marks and textures

  • ink up correctly

  • hand print from your lino

the foiling workshop is a great party, special occasion or team building workshop to add that bit of extra shine to your day! come with your own ideas for foiled motifs to heat press onto your clothing/notebooks/bags/aprons etc or be inspired when you get here by many examples and ideas. this workshop can accommodate up to 10 people. simple when shown how to create foily shiny pieces to remember the day…

  • screen print with special adhesive

Reservations may be cancelled or changed until 7 days before the date of the workshop, without charge. Any cancellation/change made within 7 days of the workshop will be charged at 50% of the workshop fee (due to the preparation work that will already have taken place). Any cancellation/change made within less than 24hrs of the start of the workshop, or in the case of a no-show or early departure, the full agreed amount for the workshop will be charged.
